LCP: Mind the transfer advice gap

Wednesday 6 October, 2021 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Summary

Join us for a live webinar to hear about a new joint paper from LCP and Aviva on the hot topic of the current market for DB transfer advice.

The paper comes one year after major regulatory changes from the FCA including the ban on contingent charging and the introduction of ‘abridged’ advice, and provides the first detailed analysis of what is happening to the supply and demand for transfer advice.

The paper includes the results of a new survey from Aviva which gives the views of over 200 ‘high street’ IFAs who are or have recently been active in the DB transfer market. It also provides the first in-depth analysis of the ‘scheme-appointed’ section of the advice market based on detailed interviews with seven major players.

The event will be chaired by Jill Ampleford, partner at LCP, and the speakers are:

  • Tony Escreet, Regulatory Lead for Aviva Financial Advice
  • Sir Steve Webb, Partner at LCP and former Pensions Minister

In addition to these presentations there will be the opportunity for questions on the report’s findings.

I find pensions endlessly fascinating! I was elected to Parliament in 1997, and served for 18 years, the last five of which I was the Pensions Minister.

During my time at DWP I oversaw the successful implementation of automatic enrolment, helped design and legislate for the new state pension and played a key role in the ‘pension freedoms’ introduced in 2015.

In 2020 I joined LCP as a partner, advising and commenting on a wide range of DB and DC pensions issues and speaking at a variety of industry events.

I lead on all matters relating to advice process, suitability guidance and customer journeys for Aviva’s direct advice arm. Prior to this, I was responsible for advice process for Scottish Widows Direct individual and corporate.

I look to help my clients make the best decisions for their situation, making sure the key themes of funding, covenant and investment are pulled together in an effective, integrated way. This is supported by my 20 years’ experience advising a wide variety of clients, both large and small, on all aspects of their pension arrangements.
