In 2019 we will see a number of proposed new rules for DB schemes, from new Regulator powers to cash funding. This month we look at one of the first major developments that will provide a new end-game option for DB schemes - superfunds. We also update on recent accounting positions including what costs for GMP equalisation at end 2018 have been. This shows that for most schemes the cost has been less than 1%.
Equities fell notably in both October and December, leading to the worst quarter since Q3 2011. The falls stemmed from a range of global issues, not least ongoing concerns around international trade between US and emerging market countries, in particular China, and the rising US interest rate environment putting pressure on sources of economic growth.
