DB Pensions have very much been in the spotlight for 2017 with several high profile cases dominating the headlines, illustrating how many pension schemes continue to face significant funding challenges. Indeed, according to The Pension Regulator's Purple Book, the aggregate funding ratio of DB schemes has fallen from 97% on s179 basis in 2006 to 78% at the end of August 2016 - despite companies making special contributions in excess of £120bn during the period.
