Hogan Lovells – GMP Equalisation Through Conversion

Tuesday 11 June, 2019 @ 8:30 am - 10:30 am

Seminar invitation
GMP equalisation through conversion

Just before Easter, the DWP issued long-awaited guidance on converting guaranteed minimum pensions (GMPs) as a means of equalising future benefits between men and women. The guidance follows the High Court judgment in October last year, which made clear that trustees must amend their schemes to equalise for the different effect of GMPs on male and female benefits.

We are delighted to invite you to a seminar on 11 June 2019, at which members of the Hogan Lovells pension team plus Richard Akroyd, Head of GMP services, Willis Towers Watson will explore the guidance and its implications for pension schemes. This will include:

  • Reminder of possible equalisation methods
  • Why choose conversion?
  • Practicalities of implementing the DWP's 10 stage conversion process
  • Unresolved issues
  • Should conversion be delayed?

The seminar will be informal, with breakfast and refreshments available throughout.

Target Audience

Trustees and employers responsible for pension schemes with unequalised GMPs. Advisers and administrators working on such schemes are also very welcome.
