On this half-day course, our pensions lawyers will guide you through the key legal concepts needed for being a trustee. The session is designed to equip all new trustees with foundation legal knowledge to give them confidence in their new role. It will cover:

• trustees' fiduciary responsibilities and duties;
• the standard of care expected of trustees and trustee protection;
• how trustees should exercise their discretions;
• an overview of key legislation and the tax regime;
• the role of the Pensions Regulator and Ombudsman; and
• governance issues, including conflicts of interest and internal controls.

Attendees will be able to elect modules from our defined benefit or defined contribution options to suit their role.
