Together with Eversheds, ITM are bringing you these GDPR briefings to focus on the practicalities pensions professionals are encountering as they begin to tackle GDPR compliance.

Who should attend?

This course will benefit pension scheme trustees, administrators, HR representatives, pensions managers and data protection officers – in essence, anyone with a responsibility for implementing the GDPR in a pensions context.

We cover the following:

  • What does it mean to keep only ‘necessary’ data? Can I keep data for members who have transferred-out?
  • How long can you retain member data? What kind of data can be retained for longer and what needs to be deleted more quickly?
  • Does your scheme need a data protection officer? If so, can you just choose a sponsor’s DPO?
  • Who do we send privacy notices to? Will this include people named in expression of wishes forms?
  • When is member consent needed? What does this mean in practice?
  • What does data mapping look like in practice?
  • Cyber security and pensions data: what practical steps should we be taking to address this?

This half-day briefing includes insight from Eversheds Sutherland data protection and pension lawyers, ITM data consultants and a client preparing for GDPR.

ITM is a leading provider of data management, systems and admin support services within UK financial services. We advise more than 1,500 schemes on benefit compliance, legacy system migrations and pension fund de-risking. www.itmlimited.com
